Some things are worth waiting for!
The overwhelming audience response to CSD’s long-anticipated Concertgebouw of Amsterdam debut performance, recorded for NPO-Radio 4 broadcast, erased all memory of CSD’s many disappointing Covid-19 postponements these past two years.
Eliciting curtain calls and shouts of “Bravo!” in abundance, the riveting program – Joaquin Turina’s joyful Piano Trio op. 76, Brahms’ beloved Clarinet Trio, (featuring the stunning Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra principal clarinetist Olivier Patey) a special European premiere of Black Boy Joy Chamber Suite by Bloomfield Hills native Ryn Jorgensen and the arresting Piano Quintet in g minor by Shostakovich – left the audience wanting more.
Violinists Timothy Braun and Sangha Hwang, violist Steven Laraia, cellist Erik Ásgeirsson and pianist Pauline Martin were happy to oblige with an encore, premiering Jeremy Crosmer’s new piano quintet version of the lovely Prelude from 5 Pieces for 2 Violins and Piano by Shostakovich.
The artists and Board of Directors of Chamber Soloists of Detroit extend our sincerest thanks to our patrons for your continued support! Without the contributions, large and small, of so many of you, this exciting project would not have been possible.
