Robert deMaine is the Principal Cellist of the Los Angeles Philharmonic. A first-prizewinner in many national and international competitions, Mr. deMaine became the first cellist to win the Grand Prize in the Irving M. Klein International Competition for Strings in San Francisco (1990). He has performed worldwide as a soloist and chamber musician, appearing at many of the world’s premier music festivals, including those of Marlboro, Aspen, and Seattle. The former Principal Cellist of the Detroit Symphony Orchestra, Mr. deMaine has also served as principal in the Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra, Toronto Symphony Orchestra, and the Bergen Philharmonic Orchestra (Norway).
