Ryn Jorgensen is a media-focused composer based out of Los Angeles, CA. Their media work includes shorts broadcast on HBO (Black Boy Joy), feature length films (Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde [1920]), video games (Nerthus: Einar’s Fate) and more, with their work appearing in projects by the Library of Congress, Film Independent, and the Indiana University Cinema. Ryn’s style is broad and flexible, ranging from lush orchestral textures to intense electronic beats to song-like styles, and they thrive at the intersection points of genres.
Beyond their own projects, Ryn is also sole assistant to two-time Grammy award winning composer Christopher Tin. Previous experience includes two summers as the assistant to Yoav Goren and Jeff Fayman (Immediate Music) and two summers as junior staff at the Palomar Film Music Workshop.
Ryn also writes concert works, creating music that is both sonically interesting and aesthetically accessible. Their work includes choral, orchestral, chamber, and big band styles.
Ryn earned a master’s degree in Scoring for Film, Television, and Video Games from Berklee College of Music and a bachelor’s degree in Composition at the Jacobs School of Music with a minor in Scoring for Visual Media. Beyond school, Ryn has worked with Rick Marvin, Greg Hayes, Jason Laroca, Larry Groupé, Roger Neill, Bill Hemstapat, and Steve Thomas.
When not writing music, Ryn sometimes performs it as a pianist and vocalist. Their playing was recently featured on HookedTV as part of short Little Bobby Connors, and their voice is featured in two levels of game Nerthus: Einar’s Fate, available on Steam.
In their spare time, Ryn loves to swing dance, listen to audio books, knit, and dream about one day having a big vegetable garden with their partner.
