Born in South Korea, Sangha Hwang has played the violin since age 6. After one semester at Seoul’s prestigious Yonsei University, he entered into military service to become concertmaster of the National Police Orchestra. He continued his studies at the Universiät der Künste Berlin and the Hochschule für Musik Saar, where he graduated with honors and was appointed teacher’s assistant to professors David Grimal and Gordon Nikolic. He is the co-founder of the Isang String Quartet, with whom he has played at numerous festivals in Europe, New York and Seoul. He is currently a member of the Paris-based conductor less ensemble Les Dissonances. Sangha Hwang has performed as a soloist with the Kwanju Philharmonic and the Saarländisches Staatsorchester.
